Duty Shift Managers

What will I be responsible for?

To manage the day to day running of the operation of the Centre ensuring the service is delivered in line with contractual, company and relevant Home Office standards. Provide advice coaching and support to staff in order to maximise the efficient and effective day to day operation of the Centre.

What decision/change authority will I have?

Manage the arrival and discharge processes ensuring detainees feel protected and receive their rights in line with contractual obligations, Home Office DSO’s and company policies/ procedures. Deploy staff effectively and appropriately to ensure the smooth running of the operation. Coach and support staff development to maximise staff performance, motivation and contribution. Identify and escalate as appropriate any potential or actual internal or external incidents and to instigate the appropriate response in line with agreed procedures so that order can be maintained or regained and any effects minimised. Take command of incidents, at ground floor level, as required to contain and minimise the effect of the incident in accordance with contingency plans, shared Home office protocols and company procedures. Ensure all relevant operational and emergency procedures are adhered to in line with company policy. Organise and manage the provision of data and documentation to meet contractual standards and assist in managerial decision making. Manage resources effectively and efficiently to ensure quality of service and best value for money. Liaise with the Population Manager, Residential Managers and on site Home Office Manager to ensure detainees are located appropriately within the Centre.

Create and deliver effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, through regular contact. Management of the strategic priorities of the company within the branch.

What projects/people will I lead?

Control resources to achieve quality of service whilst keeping within budget and time constraints. Recruit, lead and develop the team. Control resources to achieve quality of service whilst keeping within the budget and promoting business growth.

What technical expertise will I need?

Home Office Approved DCO Badge holder.

What experience will I need?

This role requires substantial operational supervisory experience within a custodial environment.

Will I need formal qualifications?

Successfully completed the DCO Initial Training Course and NVQ/Apprenticeship Level 3 in Custodial Care or working towards.
