Deputy Centre Manager

What will I be responsible for?

Support the Centre Manager in providing operational and strategic leadership across the Centre ensuring consistent service delivery in line with contractual and financial parameters, company and all relevant Home Office standards. To provide guidance and support to the operational management team and help create a culture where people are respected and valued and committed to delivering excellent service. To work with the Care and Custody Senior leadership team to develop and grow the business within the UK.

What decision/change authority will I have?

Deputise for the Centre Manager when required, ensuring full contractual compliance ensuring adherence to legislation, company policies and procedures, contractual obligations and financial parameters. Manage the overall resourcing of the Centre ensuring available resources are maximised and best value is achieved whilst meeting the needs and welfare of the detainees. Lead, motivate and coach the operational senior management team to ensure company values and vision, policies and procedures and all contractual standards are met at all times. Liaise with key stakeholders, including the customer, working in partnership to resolve issues and ensure the reputation of the company and smooth profitable running of the Centre. Develop a culture where people are respected and valued, treated with dignity, developed and recognised so that a safe, inclusive and positive environment is created and maintained. Develop a culture committed to continuous improvement and the delivery of excellent service. Manage financial and commercial aspects of the centre’s operational areas, including developing and agreeing budgets and expenditure to ensure financial parameters and company targets are met. Manage the overall fabric and security of the Centre ensuring a safe and secure environment is maintained at all times. Manage serious operational incidents assuming the role of Silver Commander in liaison with both C+C and Home Office Gold Command. Participate in Mitie initiatives to support the wider group of companies including succession planning and the talent pipeline.

Who will I work with?

Create and deliver effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, through regular contact. Management of the strategic priorities of the company within the region.

What projects/people will I lead?

Is expected to make recommendations to add or delete resources within their entity to ensure its integrity and typically manage an infrastructure of roles up to and including several managers who themselves manage specialist teams.

What technical expertise will I need?

Home Office and Vetting Clearance

What experience will I need?

Relevant managerial experience within a custodial environment is required. Understanding of profit and loss and budget setting.

Will I need formal qualifications?

Successfully completed the DCO Initial Training Course and NVQ/Apprenticeship Level 3 in Custodial Care or working towards.
